More transparency about the origin of milk: new labels

Companies in the dairy industry are working on making changes to the packaging of milk, butter, dairy products, yogurt and cheeses required by the ministerial decree published in the Official Gazette no. 15 of 19 January 2017. The new legislation covers any kind of milk of animal origin, excluding fresh milk, which is already traced, and DOP and IGP products, already regulated by specific rules. As of 19th April, the labels of dairy products must report, clearly and in a legible manner, both the milking country and the country where the milk was processed, thereby determining the origin of the product.
